Sean Pulling to Stand at the Coffee Table (August 10, 2017)

During one of our Physical Therapy sessions we were trying to come up with different ways of getting Sean interested in pulling to stand. We found a few good books and a little musical toy & placed them on the coffee table-a place Sean avoids. But he did it! He sat in his little yellow chair, grabbed ahold of the table top and pulled! HOORAY! He even sat back down without a fuss! AWESOME. Just awesome.

Sean Feeds Himself Blueberries (July 14, 2016)

I can't believe Sean FINALLY showed an interest in finger feeding himself. IT's AWESOME! He did such a good job. But I do have to be very careful, because he will just stuff his mouth to the max. He's already given me a few scares with strawberry pieces. We are getting a speech therapist starting next week to help us with feeding. An answered prayer. GOD IS GOOD.

Sandy Lake Amusement Park (July 7, 2016)

We went to the Down Syndrome Guild's (DSG) annual family picnic for families of Down Syndrome. Such a fun event! Melanie brought her BFF Jadyn from church. One day Sean will ride the rides and Summer will be his partner. :-)

Sean Standing at the Refrigerator (July 1) Age 2

He's not too sure about this situation. He doesn't look very confortable, but at least he's up.

Sean Trying to Stand on His Own (July 1) Age 2

Sean Has Started to Tolerate Standing (June 30) Age 2

Ever since Summer's arrival, Sean has been more adventurous. She fascinated him and all he wanted to do was touch her and look at her. She has become a great motivator for Sean to get him to try new things. Standing is the most significant.

Sean Trying Very Hard to Pull to Stand (June 28)

Sean is trying super hard to figure out how to get to Summer. It breaks my heart watching him struggle in these videos. But at the same time I see progress so I'm very proud our lil guy. I just cant wait for it all to just "click". What we weren't able to video was him actually pulling to stand to see Summer twice. Which is VERY AWESOME!

Sean Feeds Himself for First Time (June 22) Age 2

It's very trying having Sean initiate feeding himself. Part of him just doesn't get it. Another part of him is content with being fed by someone else. Then you have the choking factor; so you have to find food easily picked up by his hands which isn't too small or too big. Which that in it's self is a challenge because he lacks the coordination or gross motor skill to pick up small objects using the pincher grasp. There's a lot going on in these pictures. But, I found something he liked! A CHIPS AHOY cookie, snack size. IT IS AWESOME. Not only does it help with his "biting" technique because it's crunchy, but it kind of "melts" in the humidity of the air and his moist mouth. It's also small enough to grasp in his hand or use pincher grasp. This is his first chocolate chip cookie. Sean isn't that interested in sweets but this seemed to work.

Sean Trying to Feed Himeself and Attempting Pincher Grasp (May 3, 2016)

This is painful for me to watch. I just want to help him so much to "pinch grasp" the yogurt melt. I know he'll get it. It just takes a loooong time and a LOT of practice.
