Summer Reading

We participated in our library's Summer Reading Program again this year! We go to the library once a week & get about 28-35 books each time. I really LOVE that Melanie looks forward to Tuesdays. Although we don't do "Story Time" with the librarians Melanie enjoys seeing, talking & hanging out with the other kids, walking & sitting down in each of the ailes choosing books off the shelves. Her participation of choosing which books she wants to read has grown. Which GREAT because that means she truelly is interested in reading. She has a few favorites: Fly Guy. Bones, Detective Jeffery Bones. The Little House Books (My First little House Books) Just to name a few. She asks all the time "When can I read?" (Which we got a book about) "What does that say?" Or she says "But, I can't read it yet." She is very curious about how to spell things and walks around sounding out different letters. It's going to be so wonderful when she learns how to read! I can't wait! So for her participation in the Summer Reading Program, Melanie chose these bubbles from the treasure chest. She chose a book of the readign cart. She got a ticket to the circus and a reading certificate/award. This Summer we probably read over 200 books. After we filled up a months sheet (which only tracked 30 days of reading) they stopped tracking us.

It is so great that you take Melanie to the Library and encourage a love of reading--something that she can enjoy and carry with her throughout her life. Love, MOM

Yeah! You've read the little house books. This post could be on my blog too. Reading and the library are one of my favorite things about having kids.
