Our Daily Bread

This Summer we've been trying out a bit of a new, challenging dinner routine. Completely new for us. Besides just giving thanks for our food we're trying to have a mini, very mini, family Bible study time. This was a challenge given to us in an awesome sermon by our Pastor Justin. As a family we really wanted to take on this challenge of growing closer to God together and learning His Word, aside from just hearing it at church. But we didn't really know how to implement it. I love God. I love how he works. Everything He does is with purpose. It's amazing that when something is on your heart, He'll give you those desires. Psalms 37:4-Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
And when you want to know more about him or do something to draw closer to Him, He directs you. Matthew 7:8-For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Melanie and I went to Mardel Christian store a day or two after that sermon to get a few homeschool things I think, and Melanie spied this cute little bread container. And I thought to myself, "COOL! What a great way to introduce a family Bible study time. So simple. direct and effective. NICE!" So we bought it. :-) It contains a few hundred different KJV Bible versus. During dinner someone choose one, reads it and we all take turns deciphering what we think it means, and after we eat we find it in the Bible, read the full scripture and the meaning behind it. It's AWESOME! It may take 10 minutes of our time. But what we can get out of it can be used forever and hopefully taught to someone else. I love it. Don't get me wrong, we have forgotten to do it several times. It's difficult to implement a new routine, especially with a baby and Summer time. But when we remember to do it it's been fun. W are growing closer to God and building a stronger family. Everything He does is for good. Romans 8:28-And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
