THIS Is SOOO COOL!
Sometimes it takes our jeans and towels a couple of rounds to dry in our dryer. Which makes washing/drying clothes take longer and then we use up more electricity. Expensive. I asked Duane if I could have a clothes line...and...voila! Don't you just LOVE the way clothes feel & smell after hanging on the line? I DO!
THANK YOU DUANE.
Now, if I could just get a second one! :) HA!

HAPPY
I just LOVE how Melanie is SO HAPPY all the time! She always has something postive to say, a smile on her face. She is a super happy, fun lovin' girl!
A great big ball of sunshine!
Melanie's New Friend
A new family moved in down our street a few weeks ago. And they have a little girl named Eszra who's 5 years old. HOW EXCITING!!! We saw them on a walk one evening and introduced ourselves. As soon as the girls saw each other it was as if the whole world was standing still except for the 2 of them. They became FAST friends. They absolutely adore each other! Eszra is a big sister to Zane who is just over 1 year old and he will soon be a big brother! It's very exciting to have a new family on our street! I love how our street is growing and prospering with new families.
Dress-Up ROCKS!
Melanie sure has taken an interest in putting fashion ensembles together. Doesn't she look GREAT!?
Thank you grandma for the high hill shoes. Thank you Lori for the tu-tu.

Mermaid Hair
She prefers to wear her hair down but it's constanly getting in her face and tangled. So last week I put in 2 small braids on the sides of Melanie's head. When we took them out she had wavy hair-which Melanie TOTALLY adored! The next day after her shower I put her hair in 4 braids and by dinner time she had what Melanie calls "Mermaid Hair." Melanie reminds me of Darryll Hannah in the movie SPLASH. She's just beautiful.

Simply THE BEST!
I can't help but say that THIS dog, our fatty-patty, fatness-katness, stinky-sweetness is
THE BEST DOG EVER.
Early yesterday morning Smokey & I walked into the kitchen & just before I turned on the pantry light something scurried across the living room floor & Smokey took off toward the book shelf in the living room. He just stayed there, tail twitching. Well, a possible mouse just hanging out in my living room doesn't sit well with me. After all, I need to make Duane breakfast & I will want to sit & relax with a cup-o-coffee. I can't do that if I know a mouse is there! So I go and get THE HUNTER. Brownie is passed out at the end of Kyle's bed. Literally passed out-I have to wake her up. I pick her up & tell her "Wanna get a mouse?" "Getta mouse Brownie, getta mouse!" Just the mention of the word "mouse" her ears perk up & her tail just a wags. She immediately squirms from my arms & puts her nose to the ground. She runs to towards the living room & finds the scent of the mouse under & behind the bookshelf.
The way Brownie catches rodents really impresses me. She's totally unafraid and takes control. Definitely a "go-getter." I really wanted to catch the hunt on camera but it didn't work. All you see is my tushie. Sorry about that. But you can definitely see & feel the intensity of the hunt. Brownie's eagerness is awesome. She definitely knows what her household duty is. And they say that dogs are happiest when they know what their job is in their human pack. Tell me this isn't the happiest dog you've ever seen?! HA!
Anyway, THE HUNT IS ON! I start moving furniture and Brownie does the rest. She chases the LARGE mouse from behind/under the bookshelf to up & behind the T.V., behind the dollhouse, across the dinning room floor towards the front door, behind the shoe bench, behind Duane's tennis shoes, back into the kitchen-where I have to move the fridge, back into the living room where the mouse is under the couch. I pull the couch forward & lift up & just like that Brownie is on it & it's D.E.A.D. I won't give you the gory details of their close encounter. I will say though that I was right next to Brownie when she killed the mouse, heard everything and even saw it take it's last breath. Talk about mixed feelings. I think I started hyperventilating and tears just swam down my eyes. I could hardly catch my breath to tell Brownie to STOP!, so Kyle had to tell her "OK brownie-ENOUGH! STOP!"
Brownie is usually really good about listening-when you tell her "ENOUGH Brownie!, All finished!, or Drop it!" she usually listens. Thank goodness she doesn't tear it to shreds. WHEW! But I think that since this particular chase had us all over the house, it was very intense and I was so close to the "scene" Brownie & I were both over come by instinct & emotion.
She is a VERY good dog. Simply the best. It amazes me the difference in the way cats hunt versus dogs. Cats are very patient and stalk their prey. Dogs just "GO after it!" In this particular case, I'm so thankful.
She was rewarded with a REAL roasted PIGS EAR from our local AG Store. She loves those!

Easter Celebration
I thought this was AMAZING! I have never heard the story of Jesus' Resurrection like this before. I thought it was very moving.
Thank you Lori for inviting us!

Happy Easter-From Grandma & Papa
Thank you Mom & Tim for Melanie & Kyle's Easter gifts. The candy is always good and the outfits are so cute! Melanie likes to wear the shirt with her pink skirt and the rainbow shorts with her blue shirt. But never together! LOL! What can I say...she likes to create her own fashion.
Happy Easter/Easter Egg Hunting
We had an Easter egg hunt with Rebekah, Alex, Caden, & Ella. We all had such a great time! It was really fun watching them run & scramble for the eggs! Inside the eggs were mini stamps, sickers, insect finger puppets, and spinning tops. It was so much fun!

Oh Smokey
In the middle of the day Smokey caught a huge bird...fat pigeon like bird. He must have caught it in the back yard & brought in through the dog door. The bird must have scrambbled through our house trying to get away from Smokey. It ran into the wall splattering blood on the wall, yellow chair, carpet, then flew into the dinningroom window getting blood on the blinds then flew into the front door, splattering blood on the floor & glass screen door. He just stayed there & waited to see if he could just get out the glass door. At that point I came inside, grabbed a tupperware container. I wrapped my hand around the wings to keep it from fluttering, put it in the tupperware bowl, opened the glass door & released my hold on it's wings. It immediatly flew away. It had a gash on it's neck. I hope it wasn't too bad & it survived.
A Clean Ride
No matter what kind of ride you have taking good care of it & keeping it clean is a must! Good job Kyle!

Dallas Children's Museum
Melanie is a very enthusiastic & happy-go-lucky, hands-on learner. She asked me "When can I go to a museum?" I told her "We can go anytime." So I looked up children's museums in our area & discovered this one.
HOW FUN WAS THIS PLACE?.....TONS-o-FUN! They had a ton of things to walk through, touch, listen, look at. They had water, sand, baby dolls, farm animals, plastic food, story time, microscopes, magnets, crafts, hot air balloons, puzzles, reptiles, climbers, dinosaur bones-ALL KINDS of things! Melanie even got to pretend/try to milk a cow!
Very COOL place!
The next museum we'll take her to will be the Herd Museum-DINOSAURS!

Friends, Chalk, Water & SUN!
What a combonation! I'm so excited for this time of year! We just enjoy being outside so much! Water fun, friends, chalk & sun....it's just THE BEST!
Pretty Bow!
Melanie picked this bow out at Kroger. She liked it because it reminds her of Minnie Mouse. I think it looks GREAT! She's so beautiful!
Bird Feeder
We've had the same bird feeder for a couple of years now. I went to take it down to fill it up and it just disintegrated in my hands. Melanie & I were so disappointed! I quickly improvised & gave Duane our old orange juice container. Duane was supper great getting it all to fit together! And look...we have a brand new feeder!

Even Boys Like Doll Houses
I think it's so neat that Melanie can share her doll house with Christoper. It's cute watching them interact with each other and act out a scene in their heads. I also like that Power Rangers can play too.
