Sandy Hook Elementary
I feel so sad & heartbroken for the families of Sandy Hook Elementary School. I've been praying all weekend long trying to figure out what I can do to bring a smile to the faces of those grieving. It's absolutely awful to lose a child. How can someone possibly bring a smile to the faces of someone who is grieving for a child. I can't figure it out. Then I looked at my fridge & saw a flower there made by Melanie for me for Mother's Day. That flower is never going to die & it absolutely brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. So I decided to tell Melanie a shortened version of that tragedy and together we made Sandy Hook Elementary a flower, a sparkly one. We hope they like it. We hope it brings a smile to their face and a warm feeling in their hearts. We also send our prayers to them. We pray they have peace. We pray they feel comfort. We pray that even in this very difficult time they are able to show forgiveness. We pray that they receive GODS strength & will to heal.
I know this is probably considered a mediocre thing to do, I mean who can possibly bring a smile to the face of a parent grieving over a child or a child or husband grieving over their wife or Mom and so on & so on. But my heart just could not rest until I felt like I DID something. What happened is horrific & I want these families to know that people from all over are thinking of them, they are not alone.
You are in our hearts Sandy Lake Elementary.

A Letter From Santa
Melanie wrote a letter to Santa asking him for 2 DVD's, 1 Book, and a Barbie Styling Head. She received this letter from Santa & a really cute ornament with Melanie's name carved in it. Isn't it so sweet that Kyle is reading it to her? When he got the mail I don't know who was more excited to have the letter him or Melanie. HA! For me, this is such a sweet moment.
Kyle & Melanie Playing Together
This is one of the BEST times to have a really strong big brother! Laundry basket driving is such a FUN game you can't help but smile & laugh!

It's CHRISTMAS Time!
Merry Christmas friends & family!
We have a REAL tree this year. I love the way it smells. It's smells so woodsy. It's very pretty too and soft. I forgot how delicate & sweet a real tree is. Lets just hope Smokey doesn't attack it!

The Leaves of Fall
How FUN a pile of leaves can be. I can't wait until our tree grows and produces leaves for us to rake & enjoy!

Gobble Gobble!!
I saw a similar craft in the Oriental Trading magazine. And I said "Hey! I can DO THAT!" I didn't want to buy their supplies I just wanted to use what we have. And guess what? This turkey looks REALLY similar. I was so excited! It's a Thankful Turkey centerpiece. It has all the things Melanie is thankful for and Melanie put it together. One of the cutest crafts we ever did.

Operation Christmas Child
I learned about this organization last year but was too late to participate. This year I was determined to do it & get the kids involved. It's Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse. You donate all kinds of stuff to children across the world. Stuff ranging from toys to hygiene products and you place them in a shoe box type container. You can even write a note to the child in hopes that they write you back. It's a pretty neat idea. I took Kyle & Melanie out shopping & we loaded up these "shoe box" type containers. Kyle & Melanie both wrote notes. I really hope we get a letter or 2 back. It would be really neat to know the person who received our gifts and make a pen pal friend along the way. I'm especially proud of Kyle & Melanie for enthusiastically taking the time with me to help support another child whom has nothing, maybe not even parents. Really, really proud.
