Now that Kyle is back in school life at home is more calm & less busy. I have to remind myself to find things to do to keep Melanie busy. Kyle's no longer here to entertain us. (tear) :)
This BLOG is a window into our life for our family & friends that can't always be with us to see our ever changing world.

Kite Flying
It was such a relief to have some wind after the still, HOT days of Summer. A most perfect time to fly a kite! Thank you Linda for giving us this kite!
Melanie has THE EYE of the TIGER
Oh, what a hilarious video! Her favorite song is The Eye of the Tiger STILL!
Backpack Melanie
Melanie wanted to go to school with Kyle so bad she tried to hide herself in Kyle's backpack.
I'm just kidding! His backpack was lying on the floor & she thought it would be fun to to see if she could fit into it. She almost did. Kyle sure had fun trying to stuff her in there. So did Melanie of course!

Melanie Cuts a Watermelon
Melanie is such a super duper helper! I think it's neat that she put the concept of working for something & being rewarded together. That's pretty neat.

I Can't Remember!
I can't remember if I blogged about this swing set or not. And since I can't find it on my blog site, I'm gonna write about it. Sorry if it's a repeat. But our SUPER COOL neighbors gave us this swing set when they moved because they couldn't & didn't want to take it with them to their new home. Although it's been so hot to the point where the swings & slide are too hot to use, I am so greatful that we have this. When she gets a chance, Melanei REALLY enjoys it! This Fall will be an ideal time for her to use it. It definitly beats going to our run down, graffitied park. That's for sure! Thank you Paul & Kristin!

This Creeps Me OUT!
Kyle was just laying there in the pool and I said, "KYLE STOP!! You look like you're dead & it's NOT funny!" So then he told me to get the camera & take a few pics to show him. Creepy I say. Just CREEPY!

Summer Reading
We participated in our library's Summer Reading Program again this year! We go to the library once a week & get about 28-35 books each time. I really LOVE that Melanie looks forward to Tuesdays. Although we don't do "Story Time" with the librarians Melanie enjoys seeing, talking & hanging out with the other kids, walking & sitting down in each of the ailes choosing books off the shelves. Her participation of choosing which books she wants to read has grown. Which GREAT because that means she truelly is interested in reading. She has a few favorites: Fly Guy. Bones, Detective Jeffery Bones. The Little House Books (My First little House Books) Just to name a few. She asks all the time "When can I read?" (Which we got a book about) "What does that say?" Or she says "But, I can't read it yet." She is very curious about how to spell things and walks around sounding out different letters. It's going to be so wonderful when she learns how to read! I can't wait! So for her participation in the Summer Reading Program, Melanie chose these bubbles from the treasure chest. She chose a book of the readign cart. She got a ticket to the circus and a reading certificate/award. This Summer we probably read over 200 books. After we filled up a months sheet (which only tracked 30 days of reading) they stopped tracking us.
MELANIE WANTS TO SWIM!
One day she just decided she wasn't going to wear her floaties. She climbed in and started trying to touch with her tippy toes while holding on to the ladder. She progressivly moved on to holding my hands while walking/hopping in the pool. Thereafter she startd trying to walk around and monkey climb all on her own. The water level was a little lower than ususual & I think she has grone quite tall this Summer. Which made this dedecision of hers easier.
Melanie Writes!
Melanie is doing really well in her hand writing. She likes writing letters to her friend Alex. Her latest letter to him had several smelly fruit stickers that read "To Alex. SMELL!" It was pretty cute!

Fun in the SUPER HOT Summer Sun!
From running through the sprinkler,to playing in the big pool, to putting ice in the small pool & blowing bubbles, kids sure know how to have fun when it's HOT!
Do you see our swing set!!?? Our VERY, SUPER NICE neighbors Paul & Kristen moved away and gave us this swing set. Can you believe it? What a generous thing to do. We are so greatful to them. We have wanted one for a while now and now we have one-for FREE. Although it's not very fun to mow around and our backyard is VERY crowded, I think it's a FUN addition to Melanie's play time. It sure beats going to the park and seeing tons of graffiti.
