Melanie has changed so much! She is growing like a weed! I can't believe she is almost 3 months old. She can hold a rattle now, and do push-ups while on her tummy. She is babbling, smiling, and responding to our voices. She enjoys every minute of her baths, and lotion time. She is a great baby, and I look forward to her next milestones.
Melanie is no longer an alien that cannot be entertained! She is 7 and a half weeks old & starting to interact with toys by smiling, cooing, and batting. She is such a joy to have. Newborns grow so fast and we should cherish that time. But, I couldn't wait for this stage. Her needs have become a lot easier to understand, & her wake periods are even more fun. This is the age that I don't want to go through quickly. Enjoy Melanie's "Bunny Love".
I have been introduced to "BABY WEARING" by my sister. I LOVE IT! There is nothing more cuddely than to WEAR your baby. I have a 6 week old and for the past 4 weeks I have been walking for over and hour while having her wrapped up like a Kangaroo. It's aweesome! That is the best morning nap a baby could have. And the best workout for me. There have also been several times I have a very cranky baby in the evenings. Whether it be from gas, or being overly tired all I have to do is wrap her up like the gift she is and walk around my home. In 15-20 minutes she's out for the count. She sleeps for 3-4, hours wakes to nurse and sleeps again for 2-3 hours. I am very fortunate to have a newborn that sleeps so well through the night. Beides sleeping so well, I love the closeness I feel. I have my sister to thank for introducing "Baby Wearing", and the wrap for making it all possible.
Melanie is just shy of 6 weeks. And during these first few weeks it's been difficult for Duane to connect with his little girl. I belive the reasons are quite similar to those of many new dads...Mom is breatfeeding, Mom stays at home, Daddy works, Moms LOVE to talk baby talk, sing, and just all around know what to do when the baby is crying. But, this evening was different. Melanie and Daddy connected! He spoke to her gently about his day and we both were shocked when it sounded as though she said "Hi!" with her precious smile. I know that as she gets older she will definitly have Daddy wrapped TIGHTLY around her fingers as I am wrapped around Kyle's.
This is my first time blogging! I'm not quite sure what "blogging" is but according to my sister, it's a great way to inform my family in CA and South Texas how we are all doing-especially the grand kids. Along with writing, apparently I can post pictures and videos. Well, when I learn how to do that I will. I'm just now getting the hang of my digital camera, and e-mailing photos. My sister told me about this web site yesterday and since 1PM today I have been trying to start a blog spot. Thanks to my 5 week old Melanie I have just now started writing (it's 5PM). I have just been interrupted again by my 9 year old "Can I have a Popsicle?" "Yes, Kyle." "Are you sure?" "Look, Melanie is taking a nap, and I want to do something so leave me alone. If you don't like my answer then I'll change it-NO!" "Sorry, I'll just get the Popsicle." And that's how most of my days go.
