No More Dance Class

Wednesday was Melanie's last dance class. We'll start swimming lessons on Tuesday & Thursday! HOORAY! CAN NOT WAIT! She's gonna totally love it! She was already starting to swim on her own this past Summer. Hopefully that stuck with her & these formal lessons will just send her on her merrily swimming way!

It is super hard for me to keep up with my New years Resolution of trying to blog a post every day instead of saving it all for the weekend. Sorry people. I just don't give myself enough computer time-I'm enjoying my family & sleeping a lot more! :) HA!
But I do really have an excuse.....I am having major computer problems. One day the computer works, the next it doesn't. So although this is a day the computer is working, at the same time it is NOT. I don't have access to my videos! I have more to show you guys via video. So lets keep our fingers crossed & see if the comoputer works tomorrow.
We have also come to the understanding that I will no longer be using the desktop computer for blogging. It's too unpredictable. I'll start using the laptop this week.
So...wish us luck!

Scott Johnson Tigers played against Dennison. The Tigers were SO CLOSE to winning! They made the first few baskets early on in the game but just couldn't keep the momentum. They played AWESOME though! They're a really good team, just need more practice considering everyone on the team is new to "team basketball". I'm so proud of Kyle. He gets a lot of play time & seems to really enjoy himself.

Melanie's New Doll

Melanie & I went to the thrift store on Tuesday. We LOVE to shop there for books & occassionally toys. Well, I think we found a treasure! I found a brand new, in the box, Belle Doll, from Beauty & the Beast for $6.00, plus 30% off! Normally we wouldn't buy this type of doll just yet because of Melanie's age. However, it is BELLE, not an actual Barbie. Melanie's face just lit up when I showed the doll to her & she has been playing with it constantly. She did mention, "Now if I just had a doll house..." Hint, hint Mom & Tim! LOL! :) The doll house is going to be a HIT!
The thrift store had about 6 Barbie's, brand new, in the box, & one Ken doll. I was tempted to buy a couple of them, but maybe next time.
By the way, I looked this particular doll up online, & it's selling for $23.87 on AMAZON. It's the Disney Sparkling Princess Belle Doll. WHAT A DEAL!!

For a week Melanie has been quite out of it. Last Thursday she was vomiting and lethargic. She got a little better on Friday, but was still LOW on energy. Then off and on throughout the weekend she would vomit and want to sleep. FINALLY, yesterday (Thursday) she was back to her spunky, silly, happy-go lucky talkative self! Hurray my Melanie is back!Yesterday on our way to Lori's house I said "Melanie I sure am glad you're feeling better and are back to yourself. I was missing you!" Melanie said "You thought I was a different Melanie!? MOM!
I thought that was the cutiest response!

Melanie's Dance Class

On Wednesdays Melanie will be going to a combonation dance class. A mix of ballet, jazz & hip-hop. Her teacher has so much patience! Her name is McKayla & she is so sweet & very good with the kids. Melanie was of course a very social butterfly & wanted to be everyone's friend. She was also a bit of a clown. Oh, she was a riot! LOL! If she didn't understand what she was supposed to do, or didn't know how to do something she would just fall & say "oh, I'm not really good at this." By the end of the class though I think she understood that all she had to do was follow the teacher's instructions & she would learn a dance routine. All in all it was a super fun class! I really enjoyed watching Melanie. She just made me smile & everyone laugh! She had a fabulous time too! At the end all the kids got to pick a candy from the candy jar. And as a little girl was leaving Melanie shouted out "Rachael, what's your phone #, where do you live?!" Rachael is the girl Melanie is holding hands with in the video. They hit it off really well. Maybe we'll exchange #'s this week.

Melanie Started a Dance Class!

Every since Melanie's hair was long enough she would VERY RARELY let me pull her hair back or do anything with it. The last few weeks Melanie has started putting her hair in her mouth, which is really gross. I was determined to figure out how to get her hair out of the way. She'll let me braid it!!! Doesn't she look beautiful!? These are the pics of her about an hour & and a half before we needed to leave for her first dance class. She was very excited!

So, Melanie started vomiting last night. Didn't stop til nearly 1:30 AM. She got up about 5:45 AM drank some water-threw it up. It's nearly 6:30 AM & she's back asleep. Hopefully, when she wakes this time she'll be ALL BETTER. And as I'm writing this post-Brownie comes to me with her hair standing straight up all over her back, her face swollen & hives all over her under body. What is going on? I gave her an allergy tablet. Hopefully when she wakes up she'll be better too. I'd be pretty bummed out if I had to take a vomitting child to a vets office. LOL! :)

Don't mind Brownie's fatness-belly-rolls-she's just "swollen" from whatever caused her to swell up. Ha, ha, ha!!! :)

Tuesday night Kyle's school played against Cockrill. Johnson lost. But, they're still imoproving! Every game they seem to get better with the defense. They're always shooting for the basket but their aim seems to be off. I hope they win one this season. IT WOULD BE AWESOME! I'm glad the young men are having fun. And Kyle seems to really like it. He's doing very well. GO TIGERS!

We bought a lap top just after Christmas so that we could have a bit more computer freedom & so Melanie could start playing a few computer games. She is REALLY enjoying it! This idea origionally started because at our local library they set up 2 computers with tons-o-learning software in the children's area. Melanie quickly became intersted in them and has enjoyed them every week we go to the library. So Santa Nana Sylvia & Santa Papa Paul got her some computer games for Christmas & Melanie is on a roll! We were in Marshall, TX for Christmas this year. It was fun, we all had a great time. Christmas this year seemed HUGE! Melanie got tired of opening gifts and took about an hour break. She resumed when my bro Joe & his family came over.
Some of the pictures are from a couple days before Christmas with Kyle, Melanie & Ella decorating cookies. Other pics are of Christmas Eve-Kyle checking out the gifts, Kyle & Melanie dancing to Christmas music. It was a really nice few days.

Happy New Year family & friends! 2012 is sure to be great, I FEEL it!
I don't think I've ever felt compelled to make a New Year's Resolution before, until this year.
For me, finding computer time long enough to upload pics to my computer & blog them is tough. I seem to have to do it in stages which turns out to take DAYS. This year my resolution is to try to be more organized in my computer time and try to post ONE blog per day. The way it works now is I wait to upload my pics until the memory card is nearly full. Then I scan through them, organize them and think of blogs. Then I try to blog TEN or so in a weekend. THAT is NOT effecient. And it BUGS me as I'm sure it bugs you blog followers. I mean GEESH, how long have you been waiting to see the Christmas blog? It's been a week! Luckily it will be posted today! Plus, in the rush to "blog", I always forget cute pics or video and have to back track.
So 2012 is my year for my BLOG REVOLUTION! Horray!

Setting-up the Christmas tree is so fun. The kids really get involved & so do our pets. Smokey is the biggest dork! My favorite thing is puting on the ornaments. I talked Duane into buying a NINTENDO!!! What a classic! I remember playing this when I was a kid with Aaron. We played Super Mario Bros. all the time. Our games include Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Ms. Pac Man, and Duck Hunt. We have had a little fun playing these games & introducing them to Kyle & Melanie. Kyle finds them hilarious & generic compared to the new video games of his era. But he admits Ms. Pac Man does take some skill!

I don't go to the mall very often. It's only since I discovered my local mall has a kiddie train & a fountain have a chosen to go there to shop at JC Penny. There's a newer, independent JC Penny's a little closer to us but those 2 ammenities make shopping a little more fun for the kids. There's even a playground area but I didn't get any pics-Melanie was all over the place.
Plus, who doesn't like to walk through the mall every once in a while? It's so interesting, so colorful. PLUS, it smells of mall food! YUM! Very bad for you, but YUM!

Melanie's costume is AMAZING!!!!!!!! Thank you SUPER much to you, Mom for making it! YOU ROCK! Every person Melanie got candy from commented on "how beautiful" her costume is. Melanie would say "My grandma made it." Then she wanted to choose her own candy, not be given a peice of candy. Who knew a 4 year old would be so particular about their candy? Melanie was also very NOT shy about asking for candy for Kyle. He felt he was too old to dress up, although he probably should have been the BIG BAD WOLF. But, we didn't think of that until we were in the car driving to down town McKinney to trick-or-treat. :( Too late. Anyway, Melanie would be givien a peice of candy if she didn't approve of it she would say "I don't like this 1." Then she would put it back, & reach for a different 1. After that she would ask "Can my brother have some candy too?" Or she would simply hand Kyle a piece that someone gave her. So together Kyle & Melanie made a good team & made out with a ton-o-candy! After down town, we came home & had dinner, played & relaxed. Then we took Melanie around our block just to support our neighbors (& get more candy!). Kyle was really helpful. He took Melanie right up too the doors & held her hand to cross the street. They had a lot of fun! It was definitly a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Dallas Zoo

We went to the Dallas Zoo with our homeschool group.
The first thing Melanie wanted to do at the zoo was ride the carousel. Whoever invented teh carousel was a genius! They are so delightful! After that I asked Melanie which kind of animals she wanted to see first and she replyed "I wanna see the reptiles! Lets go see the snakes!" I have no idea where that enthusiasium for reptiles came from. I don't share it. But we saw some neat stuff. It was fun, creepy & intersting. Melanie REALLY enjoyed the snakes. My camera ran out of battery life half way through so we don't have ALL the cool things this zoo had to offer on film. For instance, Melanie go up close & personal with an elephant during a demonstration. She touched, petted, & fed a giraffe. We went through a petting zoo where Melanie fed her apples to donkey's & chased goats. The Dallas Zoo is AWESOME!

Henrietta Creek Orchard

Melanie & I went to HENRIETTA CREEK ORCHARD with our homeschool co-op. We arrived a little late because I had a terrible time finding it. It's in in the middle of no-where & turns out it's just somebody's back yard. LOL! But it was delicious, fun & interesting. We learned about different bugs that are important to growing apples, we learned about the different types of apples grown, how to pick an apple-there is a technique. We watched a lady take fresh picked cotton, de-seed it, brush it, roll it and attach it to her spinning wheel and make thread from it. Then she put the thread on her loom to show us how they made cloth "back in the oldin' days." REALLY COOL! How time consuming that was. She said people only had about 2 outfits each because it took about 90 hours from cotton to shirt to make their clothes. ??90 HOURS?? Oh my...
We also learned a little about honey. She showed us how to take honey comb from the bees to the extracter and from the extracter to the "Honey Bear" bottle. Pretty neat!

What a trio this is, huh? These girls are so much fun! I had a ton o fun watching them for Chad & Lori for a few hours. We made HALLOWEEN decorations-Pumpkin plates. We went for a walk. We played at two parks. We played at the house. We read some books. We had a great day.

We went to the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm!!!!! It so much fun there! You get to feed the cows, goats and Longhorns. Go on a hay ride, & pick out a pumpkin each. Plus it's got tons of great picture areas. We had a ton of fun!

Melanie LOVES Mater

For her birthday Melanie received all she needed and wanted. She got a baby doll with accessories and a Mater. Well, forget the baby doll. Mater is her baby. ANd she uses the accessories to "baby" him. She takes Mater everywhere. She nurses him. She gives him a bottle. She feeds Mater food. She Puts Mater in the baskets of her scooter & trycicle. He rides in her car seat. He sleeps in his bed (microwave of lil kitchen). And sometimes she carries him in this baby carrier. SO thank you Mom & Tim for the baby accessories. Sorry about the baby doll. Maybe she'll like it one day. :) Thank you Lisa for the gift card to TARGET. Mater is what she bought with it. And as you can see...she LOVES him.
She loves Mater & she mother's Mater, that's all that matters to me. You're a good mama Melanie.

Cross Country Kyle

Kyle started Cross Country late in the season. He was only able to practice for 2 weeks and participate in 2 races. But in that time he really transformed himself. Learning how to distance run came very naturally to him and he really enjoyed it. I'm SUPER PROUD of him! THis is his last race on October 1, 2011.

I really wanted to take a few pictures of Melanie in a cute, girly, frilly party dress. I undrestand not every girl wants to get dressed up like this, I'm one of them. However, it was just for a few pictures, NOT for the entire length of her party. And I told her that. But she was very adamant that she was NOT going to wear this dress, not for one HAPPY second. Well, I managed to get a couple decent pictures from her & when I went inside to get her some water she took it upon herself, wearing this dress, to roll herself in the dirt. HA, HA, HA!!! Oh my goodness!!! Thankfully I already took a few pictures. Ya know, I didn't realize she disliked the dress that much. She showed me.

Melanie is such a smart, beautiful, funny, caring, loving, curious, bright, sweet girl. We are so proud of her. Time sure goes fast when you have children, but it's so much fun!

Kyle's First Cross Country Meet

Hooray for Kyle!!! He ran a 2 mile race against several other schools and cam in 95th out of 200. According to Kyle he doesn't know what his time is for the race, but he still did VERY well. I'm gonna guess it was about a 15 minute race for him. That is REALLY good for someone who only started running 4 days prior to that. GOOD JOB KYLE!
I wasn't able to be there but thatnks to DUANE, Lori, & our neighbor friend I have some great pics of Kyle & he had a great cheering section.

How AWESOME is this...Kyle joins Cross Country!!?? I think it's SUPER GREAT. And he seems to be a natural. He wanted to try it, he did it & he's REALLY good at it. He's also lifting weights with the team twice a week. That is SO GOOD for him.

Homeade Cinnamon Rolls!

I made some REALLY DELICIOUS Cinnamon rolls with the help of my good friendly neighbor, Rebekah! There is NOT one ounce of sugar in them! They're made with Agave Nectar, and Honey and FRESH GROUND Spelt Flour. PRETTY COOL!
According to Duane, the guys at Sunstate enjoyed them, along with Melanie & Kyle. They were very hard work, but definitly DELICIOUS!
I realize these pics don't do my kids any justice in confirming the treat tastes good. Ha, ha, ha!!! Their faces say otherwise, huh! :) But, take my word for it...one right ofter another, they kept asking "more cinnamon rolls, please?" And how can you say "NO."? They're not bad for you!

Melanie LOVES Dragon Fly

Lori, this video is for you! Ha, ha, ha!!! Smokey brought in a Dragon Fly, played with it til it died & left it on tyhe livingroom floor. Melanie saw it, immediatly picked it up, carried throughout the house, placed it in various "containers" ie; box, toy pots/pans. GROSS. She even sat on the couch with it and olaced it on a couch pillow becasue it was "watching t.v." with her.
Well, this video is for Lori because she showed me a video about a "girl who loved her squirl." Which is exactly the way Mlenaie behaved with this Dragon Fly.

Oh yes, thanks to my brother Joe, Kyle has experienced "THE HAND."!!! I remember VERY WELL when Tim used to do that to me & Aaron. He would torture us, then we would come BACK saying "Do it again Tim, do it again!!!" It was so much FUN! And just like Kyle's laughing hysterically, Aaron & I did too! SO MUCH FUN, what a good time!
